Who doesn’t love flowers? I mean really, even if you’re not girly. And hey, if you’re macho it doesn’t hurt to admit that a bit of bloom ‘sighting’ makes you smile too!
Here’s the trend nowadays, (but been doing this for years) instead of a big floral arrangement try ‘scattering’ blooms around your house. You don’t have to own a gazillion vases because a few unconventional vessels in your house can be re-purposed for this idea.
See the examples on the photo above? Clockwise: A small water glass held pink roses atop our home’s bar; tangerine roses placed in an old coffee mug (coincidentally the roses and the lines on the mug matched, swear!); a detox juice bottle held a combo of pink and tangerine roses on our sweets table; and a good old pitcher held long-stemmed tangerine roses.
Don’t dispose of your flowers immediately when they are on the brink of wilt. You can re-purpose the petals by making an organic room freshener or by making potpourri!
For an organic room freshener, piece rose petals in a bowl and leave in your powder room, bathroom or kitchen. You may add oil essences to heighten the fragrance.
For making potpourri, piece the rose petals in a bowl and leave it to wilt completely in a cool and dry place. Once dried, place in small nylon bags and place in your powder room, bathroom or kitchen. You may add a drop of oil essence also just so to emphasize the fragrance.
Personally, a bunch of these petals are placed in our home’s altar, bedroom and bar also.
Well, that’s it for now. I know its nothing new but nevertheless shared it who knows, right?
