“Are you ready to defend the 3 Stars And A Sun?”

PETA pays tribute to the timeless songs of the Master Rapper through 3 Stars and a Sun. It is a dystopian rap musical that offers a look in the future Philippines. Starring Paolo Valenciano, Nicco Manalo and other talented theater actors.

“Though the narrative will not tackle the elections per se, we still hope that the ideas embodied in the play can be both a source of inspiration and reflection on the historical and current ethos of the Filipino as we prepare for another national election,” shares PETA Artistic Director, Maribel Legarda.

Part of a post from Maxene Magalona herself:
I never thought that my dad’s songs could be used in a play to tell a story but amazingly, PETA was able to do it so creatively. So thank you, PETA. Thank you for using Francis M’s songs to help tell a story of national importance. I urge everyone to see this play to hear more of Francis M’s songs, understand why he loved the Philippines so much and love it the way he did so that we can all hope for a better tomorrow.

“Meron akong ano? Meron akong kwento!” Bodgie Pascua.

Watched ‘Batibot’ when I was a kid and ‘Kuya Bodgie’ up to know, remains a memorable character. But in 3 Stars And A Sun, he went out of his comfort zone as an actor, as an artist and he nailed it! Watch 3 Stars And A Sun to find out!

“Tropang praning-ning, laging gising-sing!”

3 Stars And A Sun is like a cornucopia of emotions. music, patriotism, fear of the future, etc. using Francis Magalona’s music. At first I was hesitant, but seeing it – nothing short of genius! PETA has made another mark in Filipino theater.

“So, we hope that PETA’s new musical turns out to be a huge success because the themes in Francis M’s songs are even more significant and relevant than the Aegis band’s heart-tuggers.

One big hit deserves another so that the popularity of Filipino musicals will be further enhanced! So, let’s all make it a point to patronize the production when it opens next month.” Nestor Torre
