Its the rainy season and if you miss the beach especially the eats, then Crunchy Crab is the place to go. Its a modern ‘seafood shack’ that serves ‘beach eats’ that are to-crave-for. Upon entering I immediately adored the treatment of the interiors, the incorporation of surfboards and choice of blue and yellow hues used which gives off a summer/beachfront vibe. But its more than that, so without further adieu, let’s talk about the food.
Crab Bucket Salted Egg flavor (300 grams Php385 / 3×300 grams Php999) – The title says it all, boiled fresh crabs cooked with their homemade salted egg sauce. Salted egg flavor is all the rage with food trends these days and as with any ‘version,’ the balance of flavor is what matters. For me, this hits the spot and its the most flavorful from their ‘Crab Bucket’ fare (classic original, salted egg or mango tango) which they also serve with sweet corn. To be honest, you might want a cup of rice with this or have it with one of their quenchers (Sunset Mojito, Bali Rush, Rootbeer Float, etc.) or a local beer. Go ahead, no one will judge you – no one should judge you hehe!
Crab Bucket Mango Tango flavor (300 grams Php385 / 3×300 grams Php999) – These are fresh crabs boiled and cooked with their homemade butter and mango sauce, also served with sweet corn. If you want a bit of a tangy taste then this version is for you. This tropical version goes best with any of their fruit quenchers combo.
Soft Shell Crab Burger (Php265) – They say its their best seller and there’s no arguing with that. Its a whole soft-shell crab seasoned and deep fried then placed in a sesame bun with fresh mango cilantro salsa, served with a side of fries. Visually appealing (‘Instagram-able’) plus your palate and tummy will thank you for trying it.

*(Soft Shell Crab is a culinary term for crabs which have recently molted their old exoskeleton and are still soft. Soft-shells are removed from the water as soon as they molt to prevent any hardening of their shell. This means that almost the entire animal can be eaten, rather than having to shell the animal to reach the meat.)
Soft Shell Crab Taco (Php290) – This version comprises of soft shell crab wrapped in a soft taco shell filled with mango salsa, coleslaw, lemon aioli and sriracha aioli. Its an experience of different combination of flavors all bunched up in a soft taco shell. This is a great ‘To-Go’ food when you need a quick bite anticipating traffic, don’t want to cook at home or simply take out as a snack for later.
GO Buffalo Wings Php180 – Deliciously seasoned chicken wings with their signature blend of sweet, tangy barbecue and spicy flavor. Tickle your palate while getting your fingers all messy good and pair this with local beer.
So that’s my food adventure at Crunchy Crab, my highly-recommended, definite must-try for seafood fanatics, for casual family/group eats and hey, bring your date there for a cozy foodie trip too!
