MOTHER’S DAY 2015: An Advance Celebration for my ‘Second Moms’

Advance ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ celebration with my ‘Second Mothers’ and cousin Brie! Treated them at ‘Bida’ (hero/heroine) Filipino Kitchen because they’re ‘bidas’ in my life!

Impromptu and advance ‘Mother’s Day’ celebration with my ‘Second Mothers’ (Tita Sally, Ate Fely and Ate Mabelle) and cousin Brie!

I rarely have free time, so after a prior engagement went to fetch them with Ate Fely for an advance treat! We had dinner at ‘Bida’ (hero/heroine) Filipino Kitchen because they’re ‘bidas’ in my life!

Advance ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ celebration at Mama Mia’s Casa! Big Sis cooked Baked Pork Chops w/ Herbs & baked Banana-Almond Crunch and I brought Custard Cake.

Ate Mabelle coincidentally cooked Baked Herbed Pork Chops & baked Banana-Almond Crunch for dinner which was delicious as always! We were full from the restaurant treat so the rest of the home cooked meal went to the fridge which if offered, would’ve happily agreed to take some home hehe! Will post recipes soon!

The advance ‘Mother’s Day’ celebration continued with coffee and custard cake at Tita Sally’s white house after dinner.

It was a good spur-of-the-moment decision and a fulfilling day! Nothing beats spending quality time albeit just a few hours with the people who love and support you unconditionally!

HOLY WEEK 2015: Keeping up with Catholic Tradition in a modern world

Palm Sunday 2015 at Fisher Mall ‘Chapel of Fishers of Men’

We always celebrate the Holy Week as traditional as we can going to church and observing rites. I fondly remember when we were kids, TV time was limited (let alone only religious programs or movies were shown from Holy Monday to Black Saturday) and silence is observed so that you can contemplate.

Huge ‘Crosses’ (2015)with wheels which you can borrow/carry at Padre Pio Chapel grounds while observing the ‘Stations of the Cross’

Its much different now because we can attend mass at malls, malls are open (Fisher mall) even during Good Friday and sometimes neighbors sing karaoke so peaceful contemplation is compromised.

‘Black Friday’ at Sto. Domingo Church

Nevertheless, what’s important is not just that one week of religious rites and contemplation. As often as we can we go to church or chapel to express gratitude for everything and ask for continuous guidance and protection.

We sort of celebrated Easter in advance (during Visita Iglesia) by visiting Padre Pio’s Chapel and the Church of Saint Pope John Paul. If there was still time, we could have also visited St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church/Convent like we did during Visita Iglesia. We then roamed around Eastwood City to see see the huge Easter eggs display.
