Creme De Cacao: Chimara Feel Good Kitchen’s chocolate cake is a must-try!

The food adventure at Chimara Feel Good Kitchen was tasty and filling so the ‘leave room for dessert’ part became a to-go. They have Cranberry Oat Cookies then but opted for Creme de Cacao for reasons of comparison with other chocolate fares in the metro (nah, because its chocolate hehe!)

Asking about the cacao they use, they said its organic but of course not sugar-free because it would alter the taste. Coffee or tea would be nice to go with any dessert so I also suggested it and they said its in the works. That being said, went home with a big smile and a full (of healthy food) tummy.

Come coffee/tea time the next day (3pm, I know very Titas of Manila hehe!), had water boiling and brought out the Creme de Cacao. First bite and hands down its so delicious! I stand corrected, it can stand on its own sans coffee or tea.

You can taste its rich goodness without any cacao after taste or grainy texture. The ‘frosting’ I swear they should also make chocolate bars of it and the cake part is moist, fluffy and you can also taste the cacao goodness. I highly recommend it not just for chocolate lovers, chocoholics, and sweet tooth’s but for those who are looking for a healthier alternative. Vegetable mix:
1 white onion, minced
2 carrots, minced
2 celery stalks, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
salt & pepper
1 can button mushrooms, drained and minced or 2 eggplants, minced

Binder:
3 eggs
1/2 cup bread crumbs
fresh parsley, minced

URMAJESTYSIRE’S RECIPES: Ginisang Sayote or Sauteed Chayote recipe

Sharing a simple veggie recipe: ‘Ginisang Sayote’ (‘Sauteed Chayote’)
INGREDIENTS:
2 medium sayote, sliced
1lb ground pork
cooking oil
3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 medoum onion, sliced
1 medium tomato, sliced
11/2 cups water
1 tbsp. patis or fish sauce (optional)
salt & pepper, to taste
PROCEDURE:
– In a pan heat oil and saute onion, garlic & tomato
– Add ground pork, cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until light brown
– Mix in the sliced sayote, season with salt & pepper
– Pour in the water, cook for another 3 to 5 minutes
– Turn off heat, plate and serve
– Also best served with a main pork, chicken or fish dish

SALADS: Sharing three healthy, simple and delicious recipes

Baby Squid and Mandarin Oranges Salad

BABY SQUID AND MANDARIN ORANGES SALAD

INGREDIENTS:

Baby Squid cleaned and sauteed in garlic and onions; set aside

Salad greens washed and air dried; set aside

Chili flakes

Mandarin Oranges peeled and sectioned; set aside

Salt & Pepper to taste

PROCEDURE:

  • In a salad bowl, tear and line the leafy greens
  • Add in the baby squid and mandarin oranges
  • Add a dash of salt & pepper to taste
  • You may opt to add chili flakes for some kick
  • Toss before serving

KALE SALAD

INGREDIENTS:

Kale washed and air-dried; set aside

Garlic crushed and minced; set aside

Onion minced; set aside

Tomatoes sliced; set aside

Olive oil

Salt & Pepper to taste

PROCEDURE:

  • Rub the kale leaves with a bit of olive oil and set aside
  • In a salad bowl, add in all the ingredients and toss
  • You may opt to cook for 3-5 minutes in a non-stick pan; no need to add extra oil
  • Serve immediately

PAKO SALAD

INGREDIENTS:

‘Pako’ or Fiddle head fern washed and air-dried; set aside

Salted egg peeled and sliced; set aside

Onions sliced, set aside

Tomatoes sliced; set aside

PROCEDURE:

  • In a salad bowl line the ‘pako’ leaves
  • Add in the salted egg, oinions and tomatoes
  • Toss before serving
