FDCP (2017): Quality Genre Films Featured in FDCP’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino

 

With only days to go, the Film Development Council of the Philippines is geared and ready for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP), a one-week exclusive screening of Filipino films from August 16-22, 2017 in all cinemas nationwide. This fiesta-themed celebration of Filipino films features a diverse set of quality genre films which audiences nationwide may choose from.

FDCP: Disowns connections with Film ASEAN Inc.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has released an official statement disowning any connection to the non-government organization called Film ASEAN (Southeast Asia Film Development Foundation, Inc.).

Film ASEAN started as an FDCP program during the chairmanship of Briccio Santos but is now operating as a private organization. The Council has clarified that there are no ties between it and the Film ASEAN and that any agreements entered into by the organization are illegal and have no effect.

“FDCP is the sole agency that is empowered by law to enter into agreements with local and foreign agencies on matters relating to film or the cinematic arts, and the Film ASEAN is in no way connected to the Council,” said Liza Diño, Chairperson and CEO of the FDCP.

“If the public is aware of any Film ASEAN transactions relating to FDCP, please let us know as soon as possible,” she added.

29th Awit Awards: MCA Music nominees revealed

The list of nominees for the 29th Awit Awards has been revealed. The Awit Awards is a prestigious award-giving body, spearheaded by PARI (The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc.), that gives recognition to Filipino performing artists and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music. MCA Music, the number one music company in the Philippines, is proud of having a total of 31 nominations this year led by Jason Dy with six nominations.

MCA Music nominees under Performance Awards: Darren Espanto for “I Believe” and Jason Dy for “Milagro” are both nominated for Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist. “Puedepende” by Edray and “If I Were a Boy” by Sassa Dagdag are nominated for Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Juan Karlos Labajo “Para Sa Yo” for Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist. Talents from The Voice Kids Lyca Gairanod with “Puede Nang Mangarap”, Elha Nympha with “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin” and Reynan Dal-Anay with “Magkaisa” are nominated for Best Performance by a Child/Children. The First Philippine Kid Rock Band, Square One with “Letra” is nominated for Best Performance by a Group recording artist.
