#UrMajestySiresMovieReviews: My 2 Mommies

View this post on Instagram

#urmajestysiresmoviereviews Watched 'My 2 Mommies', opening day, 1st hour screening; mejo naputol ang emosyon kasi may kinailangang saguting mga (work) messages pero kebs that's beside the point lols! O heto na and in no particular order ang reaction/observation ko: 1. Ms. Maricel Soriano is a delight and portrayed being your overprotective Tita without hard-selling accessories, nuances and activities – THE Diamond Star shines with little or no effort pak!; 4. What can I say about Solenn? The ultimate IT-girl na kaya gawin lahat eh ano pa nga ba 'di nya kaya?! Hands down magaling din sya magdrama! Yung mata pa lang may emosyon na, yung pahulog ang luha pero 'di bumabagasak, yung magandang umiyak (at walang uhog); kaya sana magkateleserye or movie sya na super drama! Also, ang ganda niya kahit 'no makeup look' with matching freckles at nakapantulog?!; 5. JoEm's character is not your typical "partner" so to speak; and mind you, there truly exists co-equal, educated & accomplished individuals and not just the usual '"jowa ng beki na mahilig sa rubber shoes" ha!; 6. Jason (the husband of Solenn) natuwa, nagalit at naawa ako in a good way; that sometimes foreigners are more understanding of unconventional setups than Filipinos; 7. Tristan (the son) very millennial acting, entertaining and siguro 'di lang kinailangan pero may mapipiga pang emosyon; 8. The yaya, work assistant, relatives & beki friends natuwa ako kasi 'di sila overacting and they were given witty but meaningful nuggets na mapapaisip ka; 9. Paolo B. ano pa nga ba ang masasabi ko? Siguro super-relate sya sa role niya that you can see it in his eyes (naks!); also liked it na they diverted his wardrobe, house decors and nuances/activities from the usual flamboyant portrayal of bekis – again, ito yung co-equal, educated and accomplished individuals na masasabing pwedeng beki role model. All in all, panuorin ninyo Graded A ito! Saludo ako sayo Direk Eric Quizon! #my2mommies

Spiderman Homecoming: Watch it for the millennial-catered web-swinging kicks

View this post on Instagram

Watched Spiderman Homecoming on its opening day. No spoilers but just a tip if you're not familiar with the franchise or not into comic books, do not compare with the previous flicks. This film takes you in between the spider-bitten Spidey's (Tom Holland) teen years and his sort of 'awakening.' I reckon though, Holland's voice seems similar to Back To the Future's Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox). Just the same in totality its entertaining what with Marisa Tomei as Aunt Mae whoa, full of cameos and ooh, Iron Man Tony Stark Robert Downey, Jr. hehe! Watch it for the web-swinging kicks! ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ #latepost #spidermanhomecoming #spiderman #marvel #avengers #marvelavengers #urmajestysiresmoviereviews #moviereviews

Watched Spiderman Homecoming on its opening day. No spoilers but just a tip if you’re not familiar with the franchise or not into comic books, do not compare with the previous flicks.

In my opinion, this version is catered to millennials. So again, do not compare with the ‘Peter Parker’ of Tobey Maguire version. At least that’s what I was telling myself throughout the flick, because this clumsy, spaced-out Spidey version did not rub well with me.

This film takes you in between the spider-bitten Spidey’s (Tom Holland) teen years and his sort of ‘awakening.’ I reckon though, Holland’s voice seems similar to Back To the Future’s Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox). Just the same in totality its entertaining what with Marisa Tomei as Aunt Mae (whoa!), full of cameos especially Stan Lee and ooh, saving grace is Iron Man Tony Stark Robert Downey, Jr. hehe! Just the same, watch it for the web-swinging kicks!

UrMajestySire’s Movie Reviews: Wonder Woman (2017) well-worth the wait indeed!

Wonder Woman’s almost every girl’s favorite for decades (Barbie’s another topic). She’s the epitome of girl power, of a woman’s capacity for strength and independence coupled with intelligence and wit. Being of a certain age, Lynda Carter was THE one and only Wonder Woman for me, so whomever was chosen to play the part of the Amazon Goddess after her, certainly should exceed expectations.

Gal Gadot did not exceed expectations but rather gave a whole new perception, a different dimension, a re-definition of Wonder Woman.ย Her Amazonian features are not ‘masculine’ but toned rather than the comic book depictions of early 2000 which for me, resembled an MMA/UFC fighter. Gal’s look was a cross between an androgynous supermodel and one of the 80’s G.L.O.W. (Glorious Ladies Of Wrestling), but that’s just me.

Now about the film, certain details of Diana’s history were answered. Though in some (comic book) stories she was not molded from clay by Hera and breathed into life by Zeus. Either way, she’s still an Amazon clueless that she is in fact, a Goddess.

What I liked the most is that the film focused on her emotions and reactions with each unfolding phase. I mean if Steve Trevor hasn’t suffered such fate, then Diana would not have triggered and discovered her maximum power, right? But then again, maybe in an alternate universe, Steve could have lived happily with Diana and she discovers her full potential in some other way.

Now about the twist with the ‘God Killer’ sword and the climactic one on one with her nemesis, its certainly one for the books. A perfect amalgamation of the mythical, the esoteric and the futuristic.

Aside from the actors, the director, writer, all through the cinematography, period and amazonian costumes, effects..everything, did not disappoint – certainly well-worth the wait!
